Downtown LA - Garment District

Yesterday I was downtown walking around and here are a few shots.  I seem to be loving the architectural details these days

Echo Park

Near to where I live is an old quarter of Los Angeles called Echo Park.  Very colorful place, full of Latins and now the young artists have moved in and there is an interesting collaboration between the two groups of peoples.  I like it.

Pine Street Pier

Another day were at the Pine Street Pier which is in downtown Long Beach and looks out over a bay to where the Queen Mary is parked.  A very foggy day and lovely reveal as it burned off

Pier C in Long Beach

It has been far too long since I posted here and I am going to make it up now.  These photos were taken in Long Beach when I was on location with a TV show at one of the shipping piers.  Great sense of space and huge machinery as well as little nooks

Winter Geneva: Walls

Here are some shots of walls by the river on the day of the snow flurry.  One of them delighted me with its selection of good old bawdy phallic humor.  It struck me so much because it is exactly what I have seen in Pompeii!  Nothing about death or misery or hate.  Simply humor about natural law :^)

Winter Geneva

I was in Geneva/Aurora/Batavia during the week between Christmas/New Year.  Mostly work and it was cold but no snow.  Dale and I were driving along one day and suddenly there was a snow flurry that was really rather enchanting :^) So we got out of the car next to the Fox River and I took these shots, which I love

Kansas City

Recently, I was in Kansas City working on a project.  I didn't have much time but I managed to get a few shots.  The one of the airport I took from inside the waiting lounge which is the old fashioned kind with comfortable chairs and floor-to-ceiling windows so that I could see a broad area of tarmac.  Taking it through thick glass gave the shot a really painterly quality, I think.  It was just a quick snap before boarding.  The abstract shots are of the ceiling in the private dining room of the Hollywood Casino next to the Nascar track.

This is an add to my Doll gallery.  It is a doll of Marilyn Monroe, taken by candlelight and by dipping the camera to the right

Night In The Neighborhood

We had a power outage here that lasted for two days.  The first night, Dale and I went walking around the neighborhood before he left for Philadelphia.  Some places had light and others, no.  It was rather random.  I started gimmicking around with the "night" settings on my new Lumix LX5 to prolong the exposure and twirled or moved the camera while the exposure was open.  I got some very nice results, I think, and it was fun to play :~)
